They brought vibrancy and added colour to a genre that had become bland and boring. Zimbabwean gospel music had become all too predictable, with the identifiable sound of a keyboard marking almost every intro to each gospel song.
ZimPraise who are an interdenominational Praise and Worship group of passionate Christian Musicians from different backgrounds and denominations came together 10 years ago to form one massive Praise and Worship Music team. They transformed gospel music as we knew it and injected life into a genre that time had forgotten in the past.
Gospel music videos, all of a sudden had a touch of class infused into them and gospel music concerts gave circular music some stiff competition. All this came about courtesy of ZimPraise.
The groups influence was not restricted to Zimbabwean boarders, so great was their talent they were recognised worldwide and they soon were on international tours. They performed to sold out venues internationally. Therefore, it is without surprise that influential American preacher, the world-renowned Bishop TD Jakes is in Zimbabwe to be part of this remarkable group’s 10th anniversary celebrations.
TD Jakes main attraction at ZimPraise celebration
TD jakes who is the senior pastor of Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas, flew into Harare International Airport on Thursday 07/09/17 for the ongoing five-day ZimPraise Choir’s International Gospel and Music Festival.
TD Jakes, who is in Zimbabwe for the first time, is one of the main speakers at the power-packed festival that roared to life on Tuesday and will end on Saturday, with ZimPraise’s live DVD recording at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
